Environmental Health (distance learning)

This programme aims to develop students' capacity to contribute to the creation of a safer, healthier and more sustainable world. Studies focus on the core areas of environmental health: public health; food and health; housing and the residential environment; pollution and environmental hazards; workplace safety; occupational health.

Entry requirements

Minimum of a 2.2 Honours degree in a science based discipline, or related discipline with a science foundation. BA degrees will be considered on an individual basis on application to the course leader.

Course modules

Core modules: introduction to environmental public health; environmental health risk and law; health promotion; food, risk and society or food control; environmental protection and sustainability; health and safety management; housing and healthy neighbourhoods; quantitative health research; environmental health professional practice; dissertation.

Assessment methods

A variety of assessment methods are used including reflective blogs, online presentations, online examinations and written assignments in the form of essays and policy briefs. The methods used will vary for each module.
