This programme is designed for students seeking to operate within an international management or international business setting, as well as a myriad of organisations and disciplines where an understanding of international business is an asset; the programme aims to enable students to develop a sound understanding of international business contexts and the ability to make integrative links across various disciplines; some aspects of the course will focus on emerging markets.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 UK Honours degree or an equivalent internationally recognised qualification in management, business studies or a cognate discipline (with a large component of management related subjects in their degree); applicants from non-business/management disciplines (and without any business/management element) will be eligible if they have a 1st Class Honours degree or the overseas equivalent; applicants with a lower 2nd Class degree in a management, business studies or cognate discipline may be considered, providing they can show evidence of significant relevant work experience (minimum 2 years); applicants with non-degree qualifications will be also considered who have relevant work experience (minimum 5 years) and will be assessed on an interview basis; applicants may be required to attend an interview; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6 in all areas); TOEFL paper-based test 580 (with a minimum of 4.5 in the test of written English); TOEFL internet-based test 92 (with a minimum of 20 in reading, listening, speaking and writing); Pearson 58 (with a minimum of 51 in all areas); or BruneELT 65 per cent (with a minimum of 60 per cent in all areas).

Course modules

Modules include: Global business and investments; international trade; international business strategy; international management; organisational behaviour; understanding business and management research; dissertation. Optional modules: international marketing; international and comparative human resources management; global diversity management; international business ethics, sustainability and corporate governance; knowledge management, social networks and innovation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by coursework; examinations; and the dissertation.
