Banking and Finance
This programme provides you with postgraduate training designed to develop your career in the banking and financial services sector. You will gain a thorough understanding of this field through practical and theoretical application, addressing financial economics, the economics of banking, quantitative methods as well as financial regulation both within the organisation and internationally.
An applicant should have a 2.1 degree in economics or finance, or its equivalent from other countries; students with a 2.1 in business would also be eligible to apply so long as they demonstrate a reasonable exposure (e.g. A level equivalent) to economics and mathematics or statistics; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6 in all areas); TOEFL paper-based test 580 (with a minimum of 4.5 in the test of written English); TOEFL internet-based test 92 (with a minimum of 20 in reading, listening, speaking and writing); Pearson 58 (with a minimum of 51 in all areas); or BruneELT 65 per cent (with a minimum of 60 per cent in all areas).
Modules include: Essentials of mathematics and statistics; quantitative methods for finance and economics; international finance; global financial markets; banking; bank regulation and macro-prudential policy; banking and finance workshops; dissertation. Optional modules: foundations of finance; security analysis and funds management; financial analysis; business finance.
Assessment is by coursework, examinations, and the dissertation.
