Intellectual Property Law

This programme provides a comprehensive overview of theoretical and practical aspects of intellectual property law. The course is suitable for both law graduates and those with backgrounds in the sciences, technology, engineering and the humanities.

Entry requirements

A UK 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in sciences, engineering, technology, humanities and law; other related disciplines and qualifications will be considered with patents and intellectual property work experience on an individual basis and applicants may be required to attend an interview; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6 in all areas); TOEFL paper-based test 580 (with a minimum of 4.5 in the test of written English); Pearson 58 (with a minimum of 51 in all areas); or BruneELT 65 per cent (with a minimum of 60 per cent in all areas).

Course modules

Modules include: copyright, design and allied rights; patent law and practice; trade marks and allied rights; managing intellectual property.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by essays and examinations.
