This programme is multi-platform, not single media, so all students learn skills in video, online, print with the addition of either audio or on-screen page makeup. The focus is on brilliant writing and reporting, and students produce content for our own sites and enjoy great placement opportunities due to our close relationship with industry.
A UK 1st or 2nd class (2.1) Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification and evidence of a commitment to journalism as a career such as student journalism or work experience. Candidates with other qualifications will be considered with substantial prior journalism experience and assessed on an individual basis. To demonstrate that commitment we would like applicants to provide a statement demonstrating commitment to journalism (including previous experience) and a 200 word article based on an interview with someone interesting from your local area. Applicants will be required to attend an interview. Entry criteria are subject to change. English language requirements: IELTS: 7 (min 6 in all areas); Pearson: 64 (51 in all subscores); BrunELT: 70% (min 60% in all areas).
Modules include: Journalistic practice 1; journalistic practice 2; journalism in context; issues in journalism; dissertation.
Assessments will take the form of practical projects and tasks, essays, exams, case studies, presentations, reflexive reports and dissertations.
