Multimedia Design and Three-Dimensional Technologies
This course provides a unique mix of multimedia and interaction design processes, design of 3D virtual reality and animation media, AV media and effects, and 3D media combined with real and virtual studio and on-location multimedia creation. It not only focuses on the creative art and design aspects of digital media, but also on the theory and practice of the technical tools and techniques required for creating 3D, interactive real and virtual reality media through the development of design and technology knowledge, understanding and skills.
A UK 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in multimedia technology or a related subject; students from film and television, art and design, communication or media studies that show promise of technical aptitude and students from engineering, science including social and computer sciences and information technology that show design aptitude will also be considered; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6 (with at least 5.5 in writing, listening, reading and speaking); TOEFL paper-based test 550 (with at least 4 in the test of written English); TOEFL internet-based test 79 (with at least 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing); Pearson 51 (with at least 51 in all subscores); BrunELT 60% (with at least 55 per cent in all areas).
Modules include: Three-dimensional virtual reality technologies; multimedia and interaction design; audio visual post production; three-dimensional film design and production; multimedia research directions; dissertation.
Assessment is by a combination of practical and written elements as appropriate.
