Biomedical, Biomechanics and Bioelectronics Engineering

This programme has a strong research and development emphasis. It aims to provide an overall knowledge base, skills and competencies, which are required in biomedical engineering, research activities and in related fields. Students will develop expertise in advanced product development and research.

Entry requirements

A UK 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in an engineering; appropriate science or technology discipline. Other qualifications and relevant experience will be assessed on an individual basis. English language requirement: IELTS: 6 (min 5.5 in all areas); Pearson: 51 (51 in all subscores); BrunELT: 60% (min 55% in all areas).

Course modules

Modules include: biomechanics and biomaterials; design and manufacture; biomedical engineering principles; innovation, management and research methods; dissertation. Optional modules include: applied sensors instrumentation and control; artificial organs; biofluid mechanics; biomedical imaging; design of mechatronic systems; group project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through a combination of written assignments
and unseen written exams as specified in the module details . Written work and examinations will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to apply knowledge and
understanding.
