Occupational Therapy (pre-registration)
A UK 1st or 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in any discipline with strong applicants demonstrating a science profile (health and social care experience relevant to OT) and evidence of informed insight into the profession of occupational therapy; applicants with a 2.2 Honours degree in a subject relevant to occupational therapy (for example biology, psychology, human sciences and sociology) and who have extensive experience of working in a health or social care setting relevant to OT will be considered and assessed on an individual basis; evidence of academic achievement in the last 5 years will be required; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 7 (with at least 6.5 in writing, listening, reading and speaking); TOEFL paper-based test 600 (with at least 5 in the test of written English); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with at least 20 in reading, listening, speaking and writing); Pearson 64 (with at least 58 in all subscores); BrunELT 70 per cent (with at least 65 per cent in all areas).
Modules include: research methods; occupational science; the art of occupational therapy; key models of reflection; modes of clinical reasoning in occupational therapy; judgement, decision making and expertise development; the work of key occupational theorists; historical foundations of occupational therapy; dissertation. Optional modules: occupational therapy for children, young people and their families; occupational therapy in mental health.
Assessment is by a mixture of written assignments, exams and the dissertation.
