Health Information for Clinical Management

This programme aims to enhance students' knowledge and understanding of information management, systems and service strategy within healthcare organisations; it also aims to equip students with a range of skills including thorough understanding of health and care related systems integration, build students' knowledge of managing and using health information effectively in a competitive and rapidly changing environment, and develop a practitioner-based approach towards understanding Information Governance in health care with particular emphasis on the personal health information data quality and standards.

Entry requirements

A UK first or second Class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in a health-related or information technology disciplines. Other qualifications with relevant work experience in health information management will be assessed on an individual basis. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 7 (with a minimum of 6 in all areas); TOEFL paper-based test 600 (with a minimum of 4.5 in the test of written English); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with a minimum of 20 in reading, writing, listening, speaking and writing); Pearson 64 (with a minimum of 51 in all areas); or BruneELT 70 per cent (with a minimum of 60 per cent in all areas).

Course modules

Modules include: Health and social care process modeling; personal and professional development; using information management in health and social care; evidence based decision making in health and social care; approaches to research; information governance for health and social care; organisational behaviours and cultures; understanding emerging technologies in health and social care.

Assessment methods

Students will be assessed by methods including written assignments, reports, oral presentations, written examinations and dissertation.
