Art and Design Practice (Fine Art)
Students study and work in a range of medium from painting, installation; sculpture; print; photography; sound and moving image. The course provides critical understanding through engagement in research and debate. Study covers the development of ideas through self-directed personal research while gradually building relevant making and presentation skills. Applicants are introduced to research and contextual studies, materials and process experimentation, traditional and digital technologies, fine art professional practices and exhibition skills and have the opportunity to work with an artist mentor.
All applicants are required to hold a good undergraduate degree in a related field; alternatively, those with experience in the area may also apply. All applicants are interviewed with a portfolio of previous work. In their application students need to include a short research project proposal. For international students, these interviews may be held over Skype or telephone upon submission of their portfolio. English language requirements for international applicants are IELTS 6.5 for postgraduate study or equivalent.
