Art and Design Practice (Graphics)
Students have an opportunity for interdisciplinary study under the art or design routes, whilst confirming their research focus and final trajectory; students challenge their approach and help the student to develop a research focus to explore communication design and its associated cultural and sociological implications; the course can provide a context for study by enabling trans-disciplinary discussions and challenges; the workshops help students explore traditional and digital forms of communication and a range of different materials to offer experiences to extend students' thinking; the programme concludes with a public exhibition of work.
2.1 Honours degree in a related field; applicants without a degree but with experience can be considered on an individual basis; all applicants are interviewed with a portfolio of previous work; in their application students need to include a short research project proposal; for international students, these interviews may be held over Skype or telephone upon submission of the student's portfolio; English language requirements for international applicants are IELTS 6.5.
Modules include: personal project 1; material creativity; art and design research methods; personal project 2; thesis; personal project 3.
