Art and Design Practice (Product Design)
Students have an opportunity for interdisciplinary study under the art or design routes, whilst confirming their research focus and final trajectory. Students have access to facilities that include industry standard 2-dimensional (2D) and 3-dimensional (3D) computer aided design (CAD), rapid prototyping, laser cutting and 3D scanning as well as a range of prototyping, engineering and materials testing equipment; applicants have access to workshops in metal, wood and mixed materials to support research projects.
2.1 Honours degree in a related field. Applicants without a degree but with experience can be considered on an individual basis. All applicants are interviewed with a portfolio of previous work. In their application, students need to include a short research project proposal. For international students, these interviews may be held over Skype or telephone upon submission of the student's portfolio; English language requirements for international applicants are IELTS 6.5.
Modules include: personal project 1; material creativity; art and design; research methods; personal project 2; thesis; personal project 3.
