This programme is for experienced clinicians from all disciplines who wish to undertake the role of qualified teacher in higher education and professional practice settings. This programme is validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and allows the participants with nurse registration to be recorded as a qualified teacher.

Entry requirements

This course is for experienced professionals (minimum of 3 years full time equivalent) who wishes to make the transition from professional practitioner to professional educator (or a combination of both). Applicants must: demonstrate the ability to study at level 7 (postgraduate level); have the support of their employer, including the provision of a supervising qualified teacher; be employed in an appropriate professional or higher education role; be registered in the same field of practice as the students they support.
