Teaching English (Functional Skills/Literacy/ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages))
An initial teaching qualification or be working towards; plus a background of working at a suitable academic level; plus good literacy skills which are tested at interview; plus an existing teaching placement or the possibility of arranging at least 75 hours of literacy or ESOL teaching at 2 different curriculum levels in an appropriate context.
The structure of spoken and written English; the language systems of English; the social development of language and literacy; language and literacy acquisition; language and literacy development in the classroom.
Assessment is through written assignments and 4 observed lessons.
