Canterbury Christ Church University
Research degrees differ from taught degrees in that most of the students' time is devoted to the individual pursuit of a research project. The students work independently carrying out research, experimentation and data-gathering in their chosen field. However, each student's supervisors will provide close support and mentoring throughout.
A relevant undergraduate degree 1st or upper 2nd Class and strong academic references.
For an MPhil the students are required to demonstrate that they can conduct an original investigation, test ideas - those of their own and others - and understand the relationship between the topic investigated and the wider field of knowledge. For a PhD, in addition to the above, the student's thesis should also make an original contribution to knowledge or understanding in their field of study.
