Secondary Education (History, 11-18)
This programme prepares graduates for the demands of teaching the 11-18 age range in the secondary sector; upon completion, students are recommended for Qualified Teacher Status, enabling them to teach in schools on completion of the programme.
2.1 Honours degree in history, or a combined degree in history and another closely related subject; other related degree subjects such as government and politics may be considered in some circumstances; an MA in history is considered where the undergraduate degree is in a different subject or does not meet the degree entry requirements; GCSEs (grade C or above) in English language and mathematics or equivalents acceptable to the University; a minimum of 10 days recent and relevant school experience on application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to have passed skills tests in literacy and numeracy prior to an interview.
Modules include: Professional placement � module 1; professional studies � module 2; curriculum studies in history � module 3; enhanced studies � module 4.
Assessment is through a combination of professional placements and course work.
