Secondary Education (Modern Languages: French, 11-18)
This is an innovative and intensive programme preparing graduates for the demands of teaching the 11-18 age range in the secondary sector; students are awarded a PGCE and recommended for Qualified Teacher Status, enabling you to teach in schools on completion of the programme; the course is organised in partnership with schools around Kent and Medway where students spend 24 out of the 36 weeks teaching in 2 different schools.
2.2 Honours degree with a minimum of 50 per cent of the degree in the relevant language(s); in exceptional cases, the university considers applicants who hold an unrelated degree and who can demonstrate an appropriate level of spoken and written fluency both in their teaching language and in English; GCSEs (grade C or above) in English language and mathematics or equivalents acceptable to the university; a minimum of 10 days recent and relevant state school experience on application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to have passed skills tests in literacy and numeracy prior to an interview.
Modules include: Professional placement � module 1; professional studies � module 2; curriculum studies in MFL � module 3; enhanced studies � module 4.
Assessment is through a combination of professional placements and course work.
