Youth Work and Community Learning and Development

There are 2 programmes on offer, 1 a non-qualifying route for those who are already professionally qualified as youth and community workers and wish to enhance their knowledge and practice base to postgraduate level, and 1 a qualifying route which offers professional qualification for those who already have a first degree and wish to study at postgraduate rather than undergraduate level. This programme leads to full dual professional qualification (JNC recognition) in youth work (validated by the National Youth Agency) and community learning and development (validated by Community Learning and Development Scotland).

Entry requirements

Applicants require an undergraduate degree at 2.2 or above and relevant experience in working with young people.

Course modules

Modules include: studies in professional youth work; strategic leadership and management; community learning and development; professional studies in supervision; reflection on professional practice; human rights; continuing professional development; research design; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Coursework and continual assessment.
