Food Safety Management

The programme utilises theoretical frameworks and practical case studies to enable students to identify potential hazards, assess risk and to develop and monitor risk management strategies.

Entry requirements

An initial degree normally expected to be in a discipline related to food safety, food science and technology, public health or food industry management; or a non-graduate qualification which the Cardiff Metropolitan University has deemed to be of a satisfactory standard for the purpose of postgraduate admission; candidates whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of at least 6.0; routes for exceptional entry are available to candidates have a minimum of 2 years experience in a relevant field.

Course modules

Modules include: research methods; epidemiology; food safety emergency management; risk perception and communication; frameworks for the assessment of risk; evaluating global food safety management standards; implementing global food safety management standards; product conformity and labelling; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on course work, examinations and the dissertation.
