This coursetlooks at the role of environmental, psychosocial, and socio-cultural factors that may contribute to disease or its prevention; health strategy now is shifting from the treatment of disease to the maintenance of health and prevention of illness.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree upper 2nd class or above in psychology, from a British Psychology Society accredited undergraduate course.

Course modules

Modules include: research method and design; biopsychosocial issues in health; health psyschology and the health pyschologist; changing health behaviour; chronic illness, stress and pain; communication in the health care context.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on coursework assignments including literature reviews, research reports, essays, presentations and posters.
