Pharmacy

Research in the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences encompasses all facets of pharmaceutical science, including: the discovery of new potential drug entities, using synthetic chemistry; formulation of drugs to achieve targeted responses; pharmacological studies of mechanisms of drug action; as well as researching elements of current medical and pharmaceutical practice. The School's 4 research disciplines represent the resource platform for the maintenance and technical support of clusters of specialised equipment and facilities shared on a pooled basis throughout the school. Although staff are located within a specific discipline, much of the research is cross disciplinary and often involves collaboration with other groups within the University and elsewhere.
