Language and Translation Studies
This programme aims to offer knowledge and expertise in subject-specific and generic skills, qualifying you for both academic and non-academic positions in a variety of organisations.
A 2.1 (upper 2nd Class) degree award, or the overseas equivalent, in a relevant subject; applicants may be interviewed; those whose 1st language is not English must obtain a score of at least 6.5 in IELTS or 580 (paper-based), 237 (computer-based), 90 (internet-based) in TOEFL or equivalent; applicants are also required to submit a research proposal (word limit/suggested length: 2,000-3,000 words).
Research areas include: Catalan studies; film; France (culture, history, literature and politics); Galician studies; Germany (culture, history, literature and politics); Italy (culture, history, literature and politics); literature and culture; multiculturalism; Spain (culture, history, literature and politics); visual cultures ; theory of translation; pedagogy of translation; sociology of translation; history of translation; literary translation; translation of religious texts; adaptation studies; subtitling; interpreting studies.
