Surgical Care Practice
This course offers knowledge and expertise to explore the principles, theory and practice of surgical care; the course prepares students for employment as surgical care practitioners.
A degree or diploma in the relevant profession is required plus at least 2 years of clinical/fieldwork education. Applicants must be employed in the role of trainee surgical care practitioner at the commencement of the programme. Organisational support in the form of appropriate senior management sign off is also required as part of the lead surgeon application. Applicants with less than 2 years� experience can only do modules with the appropriate entry requirements.
Modules include: Surgical anatomy; professional studies; clinical effectiveness; research and evaluation; surgical care practitioner skills (pre-op, intra-op and post-op); research methods in health and social care; surgical care practice (pre, intra and post-op); developing surgical skills.
Assessment methods include dissertation.
