Advanced Clinical Practice

This programme is designed to prepare clinicians from a variety of professions to undertake advanced practice roles. Modern healthcare practice has seen traditional professional boundaries change to reflect the demands of national healthcare policy, the scope of practice and patient needs. Increasingly, advanced practitioners in nursing, midwifery and allied health professions have to be prepared both academically and clinically to deliver complex care traditionally delivered by doctors. This programme aims to advance practice through facilitating the individual's capability to extend their competence to advanced practitioner level through education, clinical experience and support from a Designated Supervising Medical Practitioner (DSMP).
