This is a highly interactive, online, distance-learning programme designed to equip the general practitioner with a sound nderstanding of skin disease as it presents in practice.
The Diploma course is open to all qualified doctors who are currently working as general practitioners or clinical assistants in dermatology. Course participants must see dermatology patients in their workplace or be able to show how they will follow up patients, in order to complete the case studies. No previous specific experience or training in dermatology is necessary.Doctors interested in applying for the MSc in Practical Dermatology must have first completed the Diploma in Practical Dermatology with Cardiff University, obtaining a minimum of a Merit award (additional selection criteria may be applied due to limited places).
Assessment methods include assignments and, for the Master's, a 20000 word dissertation.
Majority of students are self-funded; some obtain support from their Primary Care NHS Trust.
