Bioinformatics and Genetic Epidemiology
This course intends to develop the appropriate complementary skills to provide students with the multidisciplinary genetic epidemiological and bioinformatic skill-set required to work effectively in the post genomic era. It offers knowledge and expertise in computational and statistical biosciences for careers in academic research, biotechnology, the pharmaceutical and health care industries.
A good Honours degree, or equivalent professional qualification, in a relevant subject such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, medicine, psychology or a bioscience such as biology, molecular biology, microbiology. Applicants must have an interest and basic ability in computers or statistics. Applicants whose 1st language is not English need IELTS (6.5) or TOEFL (580 or 237 computer-based test).
Assessment of modules is by a combination of examination and project assessments. The MSc also requires successful completion of a written dissertation.
