Students study the interface between laser optics, cell biology and medicine. The programme covers the fundamental understanding and hands-on experience necessary for this field. Much of the research in this area is inter-disciplinary in nature, drawing on expertise from different areas across the life science, physical science and engineering disciplines.
Undergraduate degree in a biological or physical science or engineering; applications from students in subjects such as physics, chemistry, material sciences, electrical engineering, biology, optometry and pharmacy are welcomed. Applicants should possess a minimum of a 2nd class Honours degree or equivalent in a physical, biological or engineering science, plus research proposal. 2 academic references and copies of full transcripts are required. Applicants whose 1st language is not English are normally expected to meet the minimum university requirements (e.g. 6.5 IELTS).
