Art (Moving Image)
This course focuses on the history, theory and practice of contemporary artist moving image. The programme is dedicated to the development of new discourses within an expanded field of practice, encompassing artists, curators, writers and scholars. As a collaboration delivered in association with LUX, the programme offers a critical engagement with, and the professional development of, ideas around artists' moving image, in terms of exhibition, distribution, publishing, education, and research.
An Honours degree or an equivalent academic qualification; having a professional qualification recognised as equivalent to an Honours degree; prior experiential learning, the outcome of which can be shown to be equivalent to formal qualifications otherwise required; a combination of formal qualifications and experiential learning that, taken together, can be shown to be equivalent to formal qualifications otherwise required.
Modules include: Framing artists' moving image; thinking as practice (research methodologies 1); critical practices (research methodologies 2); independent research project.
Assessment happens at the end of Unit 4, through presentation of the realised research project in the agreed forms, the project proposal document, and a report describing and evaluating changes and progress. Marks for units 3 and 4 determine the classification of the MRes award.
6 bursaries for MRes Art and its 3 pathways; each bursary consists of �2000 towards course fees; the bursaries can be applied for by contacting the course director once a place on the course has been confirmed.
