This course offers a thorough education in the business, editorial, production, marketing and organisational aspects of publishing; it includes a dissertation or project and work placement within a major UK publishing house.
University degree or equivalent qualification plus evidence of a commitment to a career in journalism, publishing or electronic publishing; candidates with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
There are 9 compulsory units (8 for the PgDip) covering the principles and practice of publishing in an Anglo-American and international context.
A small number of bursaries are awarded by media organisations and advertised by them; course has been recognised by the Arts and Humanities Research Board as suitable for the award of Professional and Vocational Studentships in Publishing Studies; organisations that have sponsored overseas students include the British Council, the United Nations, the Rotary Foundation, overseas governments and media groups.
