This programme develops a thorough understanding of the concepts and principles of information technology, concentrating on the practical requirements for healthcare and evaluation of systems, and offers a range of optional modules to enable students to study at a level specific to their individual requirements.
Good 2nd Class Honours degree in medical or numerate subject or equivalent professional qualification; other degree subjects are accepted if the candidate has relevant health service or industrial experience; professional qualifications in subjects relevant to the programme can be accepted if taken with subsequent health service or relevant industrial experience.
Clinical records; data analysis with healthcare applications; databases; digital information technologies and architectures; information for decisions in healthcare; research, evaluation and communication skills; students also choose 2 modules from: health management; health policy and information management; knowledge management in healthcare; telemedicine.
