Aircraft Maintenance Management

This programme is for those who have been working within the aircraft maintenance industry (for at least two years). Current students include engineers, maintenance staff, the majority have a license/professional education. We also welcome students with a military background. This Aircraft Maintenance Management MSc programme is tailored towards those working who cannot attend regular university schedules. This course is compatible with The MoD's Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) - an initiative to promote lifelong learning amongst members of the UK Armed Forces. If you are/have been a member of the UK Armed Forces, you could be entitled to financial support to take this course.

Course modules

Core Modules: Airline Maintenance (EPM906): is the module for managing maintenance departments or stand-alone MROs Airworthiness (EPM897): gives you a detailed introduction to the maintenance regulations and strategies Airline Operational Regulatory Compliance (EPM825): covers all regulatory questions To begin your MSc, you will be required to attend the Induction Workshop (IW), which gives you a thorough introduction into Higher Education and introduces all the tools and facilities available for your MSc. You will have to write a short essay after the IW, which will be your final assessment to be accepted into City, University of London. Elective Modules: Airline Operations (EPM825): the basic module for air transport, introducing all the requirements for running a successful airline Air Transport Economics (EPM823): gives you all the financial and strategic inputs in running a successful airline Airline Business (EPM831): should be taken as final core module, it combines all new knowledge into strategic business cases of successful airlines. Human Resource Management (EPM822): is a popular module, with detailed People Leadership examples in aviation Psychology in Aviation Management (EPM966): is taught by one of the leading aviation psychologists, covering all psychological issues to be observed in leadership Active Safety Management (EPM836): covers the latest trends in safety management in aviation Airline Marketing (EPM821): taught by one of the marketing experts in media and brand management Fleet Planning (EPM829): is a comprehensive introduction to buying aircraft, fleet management and lease management Developing a Business Plan (EPM969): provides a good preparation for the business cases needed in aviation managemnet Crisis Management (EPM828): taught by the leading British crisis management consultant looks at what to do in case of a crisis Financial Accounting (EPM824): gives you the necessary tools for understanding aviation accounting and financial reports Sustainable Aviation (EPM975): handles all sustainability questions in aviation, looking far deeper than just fuel preservation Airports and Ground Handling (EPM968): (is taught by a major airport executive and introduces management and fuctions of an airport and the ground services companies Airline Revenue Management, Pricing and Distribution (EPM972): is taught by the leading consultant on this subject, Louis Busuttil, for maximizing the revenues in a very complex airline world Safety Management - Tools and Methods (EPM833): gives a thorough introduction in managing safety pro-actively Air Accident Investigation (EPM970): is an intro to what happens after an accident Leadership in Organisations (EPM971): is a popular module for all leadership styles and questions Safety Risk Management (EPM973): focuses on the new risk management of all airline operations Aviation Law (EPM978): gives the aviation manager the other side of law, what every manager needs to know of business laws Future Aviation (EPM980): is a new module for UAS and space exploration. Assessment methods

Students are assessed through coursework, examinations and a final dissertation. The pass mark is 50 percent in each case. Students attaining an average mark of 65% for both modules and dissertation will be passed with Merit. Those achieving 70% will be passed with Distinction.
