Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Adult; Child

As a student on this course you will learn to work as an expert autonomous practitioner within all fields of healthcare. You will gain contemporary theoretical and professional skills and knowledge in areas including clinical and direct care practice; leadership and collaborative practice; improving quality and developing practice for the self and others, for advance practice. You will develop skills in research and applied data analysis as well as a deeper understanding of health and social care settings and the role of an advanced nurse practitioner. The course will prepare you for new, efficient and ethical ways of working that offer better quality of life and quality of care by placing service users and carers at the centre of decision-making and service redesign. City has been a trailblazer in providing excellent ANP education following introduction of advanced level education in the UK.

Course modules

Discipline Specific Modules: Introduction to research methods and applied data analysis (30 credits) Critical approaches to advanced practice (15 credits) Dissertation (60 credits) Elective Modules: Advanced Physical Assessment, critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning across the lifespan (30 credits) Independent and supplementary non-medical prescribing (30 credits) Pathophysiological principles for advanced practice (15 credits)

Assessment methods

Assessment strategies include coursework, examinations, reports, seminar presentations, portfolios, skills schedules and objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs). Students may be expected to take part in formative assessment activities during the modules in addition to the summative assessments for each module.
