Global Political Economy

The degree is tailored to students (often with no formal Economics education) who want to acquire a range of analytical skills and specialised knowledge about the global economic system in the 21st century. The course provides a contemporary take on the analysis of the global economic system, its changes and challenges. Themes studied include the national and regional varieties of capitalism, the workings of the global financial system; economic institutions and financial crises; state strategies in the era of global competition; the mechanisms of regulation and governance. By the end of the course, you will have developed an in-depth understanding of the ways the global economy works and will have learned to address and analyse critical issues facing global business leaders as well as national and international policymakers.
