Conservation of Easel Paintings
The course aims to educate reflective, professional practitioners able to contribute to the many different aspects of the profession, including interventive conservation practice, preventive conservation and collections management, conservation science and conservation research; the course structure is responsive both to professional requirements and individual interests.
Upper 2nd class Honours degree in art, art history or natural sciences required. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.5 in both Reading and Writing).
Core modules: Painting and conservation methods and materials; techniques of scientific examination; basic science; art history; conservation practice; research project; examinations.
Assessment methods include: 10,000-word research project/thesis; examinations.
