History of Art
Core element consists of series of lectures providing survey of the history of art from antiquity to present day; these also introduce approaches and methods used in the discipline.
Degree, usually a 2.1 in a humanities subject. candidates from unrelated disciplines and those with equivalent professional qualifications are also considered. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.5 in both Reading and Writing).Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.5 in each component).
Optional modules: Northern art of the 15th-century; architecture in 15th-century Italy; art in France 1900-1939; cathedrals in context: art and architecture of the great church in England c.1170-1350; 17th-century art in Italy, Spain and France; histories of 20th-century art; American art c.1945-72.
Assessment by: 3 examinations; 5000-word essay.
