Accounting and Financial Management
The course covers both advanced accounting and financial management modules giving students a certain level of flexibility to explore more before specialising in a particular area; subjects covered include: internal accounting and the financial management environment, external financial market environment and inter-linkages between internal and external accounting and financial management environments; students have the option of enrolling on an internship programme providing the opportunity to undertake a workplace project on behalf of an organisation; on completion of the course students may claim exemption on an individual basis on professional accounting bodies and financial services qualifications examinations.
2.2 degree in relevant subject, with sufficient background of accounting and finance; or equivalent qualification; for applicants whose 1st language is not English, proof of proficiency in English is required.
Semester 1: Institutional investments; financial statement analysis and valuation; corporate finance; quantitative methods. Semester 2: Auditing and assurance; advanced management accounting; corporate financial strategy; financial risk management; research methods. Semester 3: Dissertation or company internship and report.
After completing the internship, students must write an extensive report based on the managerial and educational experience derived from the internship itself and present their findings to both the employers and academic staff.
