International Business Economics

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to investigate the complexities of and challenges facing today�s world markets; it enables students to examine in depth, critical issues in international business economics at a time of continuing turbulence in the global economy; the course structure takes a holistic approach, exploring the synergies between economic theory and practice, finance and international business; moreover, the course is designed to allow students the flexibility in the 2nd semester to specialise in either the financial markets or international business field and thus acts as a platform for further specialisation in the dissertation or company internship.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a good honours degree 2.2 or above in a relevant academic discipline. Applications from candidates with relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis. International applicants should also hold a minimum of 6.5 score in the IELTS test for English language.

Course modules

Semester 1: Critical issues in international economics; corporate finance; quantitative methods; economic strategy and management. Semester 2: Business economics in emerging markets; international financial markets; research methods; optional modules: financial risk management; emerging markets finance; Asian business and global challenge; business economics in the European Union. Semester 3: Dissertation or company internship.
