Terrorism, International Crime and Global Security
This course aims to provide students with an integrated security perspective, combining traditional militarised security concerns with contemporary threats of terrorism, international crime, and non-traditional security; study tours to inter-governmental security agencies and non-governmental organisations are integral to the course, in addition to assessed work placements.
A good undergraduate Honours degree; where applicants do not meet the formal entrance requirements, their relevant experience is taken into account; a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or its equivalent.
Core modules: International organized crime; international terrorism; threats to global security; optional modules: counter crime and terrorism (study trip); governance for security in the developing world; post-colonial African politics; gender and international human rights; case study: analysing primary sources; trafficking in human beings.
