International Law

International law examines the rules and principles which govern the relations and dealings between nation states; the programme allows students to explore the primary sources of international law, including customary law and conventional law as well as treaties.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a good undergraduate degree. This course is aimed primarily at law graduates, legal practitioners (solicitors and barristers) from the UK and other jurisdictions, and politics graduates with some knowledge of law. International applicants should also hold a minimum of 6.5 score in the IELTS test for English language.

Course modules

Modules include: research skills; research design; dissertation; international human rights; international law in the contemporary world arena; international corporate governance. Optional modules include (choose 2): international environmental law; international corporate crime; international criminal law; gender and international human rights; law of diplomatic relations.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by coursework, short class-based examinations and presentation of workshop papers.
