The course covers a range of skills that are essential for the retrieval of computer based information for criminal investigations; the course will provide students with a sound understanding of essential hardware and software systems, formats, protocols and standards, with coverage of essential legislation relating to all aspects of computer-based information; the central focus of the programme will be an in-depth coverage of the available tools and techniques investigating different types of computer-based information sources.
Good Honours degree; or equivalent qualification; or relevant professional qualification of equivalent standard; or an unclassified degree plus at least two years further study or professional experience; applicants with no formal qualifications but professional business or industrial experience, will be considered on merit.
Modules include: Forensic computing methods (double); network planning and management (double); internet and information security (double); ethical hacking; legal aspects of computing; research methods; Master�s project, required for the Master�s award.
