Applied Sport and Exercise Science

This programme offers students the opportunity to develop their academic knowledge, skills and qualifications through evidence based critical debate and reflective professional practice relevant to the scientific study of sport and exercise.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold the equivalent of a 2.2 undergraduate degree in sport and exercise science or a related discipline, for example sports studies, sport and exercise psychology, sports therapy, sports coaching, exercise science and physical education. Consideration will also be given to applicants from other cognate areas that overlap with sport and exercise sciences, for example physiotherapy and psychology, depending on the makeup of their undergraduate programme of study. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5. Pre-sessional English is available if required.

Course modules

Modules include: performance physiology; environmental exercise physiology; exercise, nutrition and obesity; current issues in sport and exercise psychology; physical activity, exercise and special populations; sport, exercise and cognitive performance.
