Fraud Investigation Management

This course explores economic crime and fraud investigation in the UK and worldwide. The 18 month full-time programme includes an internship module in which students are offered the opportunity to integrate theory and practice and carry out a real project in collaboration with a host organisation.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold the equivalent of a 2.2 undergraduate degree in relevant subject such as business, accounting, finance, law, criminology, police/policing. Candidates without formal academic qualifications but with professional training and substantial current fraud management experience will be considered. Applicants must demonstrate in their personal statement an interest and understanding about fraud investigation management. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5. Pre-sessional English is available if required. For the 18 month route, students must meet the internship requirements, normally assessed by an interview during the 1st term of the course.

Course modules

Information and intelligence management; organisational risk and profiling; investigative skills for fraud investigations; interview skills for fraud investigations; case preparation and presentation of evidence; operational and organisational learning; research methods for fraud investigation management; fraud investigation management dissertation.

Assessment methods

This course uses a wide variety of assessment styles including traditional essay based course work and exams, but also some practical based assessments such as investigative interviewing where students conduct interviews under PACE Act 1984 conditions.
