Social Work

This is a course of study that meets the requirements for social work training as set by the regulatory body, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the accrediting body, the College of Social Work, leading to eligibility to register in the UK as a qualified social worker.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold the equivalent of a 2.1 undergraduate degree in any discipline, and have at least 1 year relevant work experience in social work related field. Applicants with a lower degree classifications will be considered, if they have completed further qualification at postgraduate level (such as a PgCert). Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS 7.0 overall, with no component lower than 6.5. All offers are subject to satisfactory Health Clearance, Disclosure and Barring Service/Criminal Conviction Check and a successful interview and written test.

Assessment methods

Coursework, tests, essays: 60 per cent; other, e.g. placements: 40 per cent.
