Advanced Practice in Urgent Primary Care

The aim of this programme overall is to prepare registered nurses and allied health professionals to develop advanced skills required to work as an autonomous practitioner in urgent primary care. This will allow employers in the future to expect a safe, competent practitioner and a certain level of consistency in terms of knowledge, skills and competence from the advanced clinician in urgent primary care.

Entry requirements

All students must have an effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or relevant regulatory body (e.g. HCPC). They should possess a first degree 2:2 or above Employed within a setting which supports the management of patients requiring urgent care. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Advanced consultation and physical examination skills; advanced minor illness management; advanced practice in urgent primary care.
