This course provides a variety of learning activities which enables students to meet their continuing professional development requirements and to continually improve the quality of the clinical care delivered to patients; the Master's equips pharmacists with the research skills and knowledge, and gives the opportunity to carry out a research project within an area of clinical pharmacy or pharmacy practice; this course is suitable for pharmacists with an interest in a particular area they would like to research or for pharmacists who wish to expand their role into teaching and research.
Registration as a pharmacist with the GPhC or Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, or international equivalent; practising in a patient facing role at least 1 day a week; international applicants must have a minimum of 2 years relevant industrial experience; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
Core modules: Clinical foundations; practice foundations; clinical practice 1; public health; clinical practice 2; plus optional modules include: service evaluation; practice development; independent prescribing; research methods; professional development.
Assessments for home students involve written pieces of coursework plus some assessments on the study days e.g. presentations and short answer paper written assessments; some of the assessments involve completing General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) CPD cycles relating to the learning done on the course; international students complete all their studies online via Blackboard; many of the assessments are also completed online.
