This course has been designed for those working in both the primary and secondary education and focuses on the effectiveness of education, applying theory to practice with an emphasis on education, assessment and evaluation; it also promotes the development of their practice and their organisation as learning environments; the course uses blended learning from the disciplines of educational theory and practice as well as the theory and methods of assessment; students take 4 modules, usually over a 2 year period; each module usually starts with either a 1 or 2 day workshop depending on the number of credits.
Postgraduate Certificate in Education or a similar postgraduate course; it is expected that applicants are involved in the education of others.
Core modules: assessment and evaluation; research designs; effective education; research dissertation.
Assessment is by coursework including reflective accounts, research proposal and the final dissertation.
