Aimed at design and creative industry entrepreneurs, suited to design industry professionals with the appropriate qualifications and experience, particularly those wishing to start up their own companies; the course develops the design, creativity and innovation skills required by entrepreneurs and design industry professionals; a flexible learning package which promotes professional and personal development of designers and design managers currently working in the industry.
You should have the equivalent of a 2.2 or above UK bachelors honours degree. If you have other professional qualifications and/or industry experience we will consider your application on an individual basis.
1st semester: research methods; marketing for the creative entrepreneur; critical perspectives in design management; strategic design for competitive advantage. 2nd semester: business planning for the creative entrepreneur; strategic markets for design in the global economy; design as a strategic business tool; choose 1 module from the following: design in political context; managing business web presence; the nature of creativity. 3rd semester: the final research project module consists of a dissertation.
A major research project using appropriate methods and analysis.
