Cultural Events Management

The course explores the connections between culture and business/management and will allow students to apply theory, key skills and knowledge to practical experience in the industry. It offers a learning experience combined with intensive study and research options.

Entry requirements

2.1 honours degree; equivalent qualifications from other international systems receive the same consideration and applicants whose 1st language is not English should also have IELTS 6.5 or equivalent; non standard applications are considered according to their individual merits and applications from professionals with relevant experience in the industry are welcome.

Course modules

2 compulsory taught modules: cultural events leadership; events and festivals practice. Students can then select from a range of option modules to create a course in line with their interests and professional development. Optional modules: work based project; inter cultural practice and diversity; animating places; local and community digital media arts; context for community arts practice; strategic management; strategic marketing; financial management. To complete the Master's, students also complete a 60 credit dissertation on a topic agreed with the course leader that speaks to their own research interests in this area.

Assessment methods

All assessment is via coursework; modules employ a number of assessment methods and assignments commensurate with advanced level, academic and applied study.
