Dublin City University
Dublin City University
Whoever you are and wherever you are from, the city of Dublin probably doesn’t need much introduction. Dublin provides a great venue for your success. From its museums and galleries, to its historical landmarks, it is rich with history but very much part of the 21st Century. At DCU, our three very different, but complementary campuses provide solitude from the hustle and bustle of city life. However should you choose to engage with the city, Dublin’s transport systems will get you around quickly, safety and cheaply. Since its inception in 1980, DCU has developed a national and international reputation for distinctiveness and innovation in its teaching, research and its engagement with society. We are proud to have world-leading academics that are experts in their fields, providing research-enriched teaching that sits at the core of the DCU student learning experience.
Some people undertake postgraduate studies to obtain that professional accreditation. Others do so because they are passionate about an issue and postgraduate research provides the structured, supportive environment in which to follow that passion. Whatever programme you choose, our dedicated academic staff will inspire you to discover new ways of thinking about your subject. Our academics and research teams are innovators making a global impact and addressing the major challenges facing the world today, and you will be part of that journey here at DCU. Approximately 20% of DCU students are registered as postgraduate students and, in the last ten years, our PhD student numbers have increased by 88%. DCU is a diverse, multi-ethnic community and hosts over 3,000 international students from 110 countries. Please visit our webpages to discover why DCU is regarded as one of the world’s leading young universities currently ranked in the top 1.5% of universities globally.
DCU is a dynamic university - conducting intensive research activity in a number of areas where society faces global challenges, and focusing on translating its results into outputs for societal and economic benefits. The DCU research environment is highly collaborative, not only among its five faculties, but nationally and internationally. With more than 50% of all publications co-authored with international partners, and a high level of participation in European research consortia, DCU represents a destination of choice for many international post-doctoral researchers. Much of the research activity is concentrated in a number of research centres, where different expertise converges to generate multidisciplinary approaches to key challenges.
