Critical Management Research
Both modern management and management research require professionals with in-depth knowledge of their subject area combined with high level research skills that enable them to undertake complex projects; this programme is a highly flexible taught postgraduate award, designed to provide intensive research training, as well as the opportunity to work on a dissertation project under the supervision of experts in student's selected area of study.
To join this programme students should have a 1st or upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a management or social sciences related discipline; in exceptional circumstances, students with a lower 2nd Class Honours degree with demonstrable knowledge of their subject matter may be admitted at the departments discretion; overseas applicants are considered on an individual basis and are expected to demonstrate IELTS 7.0 or equivalent; each applicant is expected to write a short research proposal outlining the intended focus of their MRes studies; a formal registration interview/viva is held for each candidate with the proposed research supervisor and other qualified academic members of staff; the interview may take place face-to-face or via video conference as required and provides an opportunity to discuss the proposal and establish suitability for the programme.
